CRESCENT LAKE CLUB

We want to welcome you to our beautiful lake and property! We take great pride in maintaining wonderful space, thanks to the dedicated efforts of our fantastic members and generous donations. Your support helps us meet the needs of our and ensure that everyone can enjoy this special place for years to come. Currently our lake has 16 privately owned cabins, 12temporary camping spots, and 52 permanent camping spots. We offer a great place to fish, swim, and have family gatherings.

 

 

In 1906 the railroad had a need for soft water for their steam engines. They bought 52 acres of land around Shinn's Creek from Ira K Frankenburger, thus becoming Crescent Lake. The lake was fed by natural springs and up until 1959, water was pumped from this location to the railroad station in Alpha.

The Crescent Lake Club, itself began in 1907 when a group of men met at the bank to lease the lake and form a private "pleasure" club. When the railroad no longer needed the lake water, due to the increased use of diesel engines, the property was purchased by the club for $8000. Four year later, an additional 55 acres was purchased, and a new dam was built. Which led to the forming of a second lake, which is how we have the wonderful club we do today.
